Do you bake for family, friends, church events, work events? If so, this post if for you! I’m frequently asked how I get my buttercream so smooth? what tools I would recommend for someone who is just starting and what are the best cake decorating tools that a hobby baker should have.
Ten years of baking for family…
So I created a list of baking tools and equipment that I have used over the last ten years of baking. It’s hard to believe, but yes, it has been TEN years of baking. I started out by baking for family and friends. Then it slowly church events, work events, then orders and now professionally as a weddings cake designer.
Now it’s important to note that you don’t need the most expensive tools when you are starting out. Whether you are a hobby baking or you just want to make one of my amazing recipes this list will be beneficial to you!
I started baking more…
Right now I use a stand KichenAid mixer but there was a time that I used a hand mixer and a few bowls. It was all I needed to get the job done at that time. However, as my skills improved and I started baking more and I needed something a bit larger that would help me to create more consistent recipes.
Whether cake batter or dough
Below lists my favorite baking and cake decorating tools. I also included images and links to the exact products. Each item will be in two categories; essentials and upgrades.
Essentials
Essentials – You will definitely need these items if you will be baking. Whether cakes, cookies, brownies or whipping up a batch of frosting these items are must haves. Useful for bakers at every level, from beginner hobby baker to pro.
Upgrades
Upgrades – If you’d like, you can start here with some of these items but it is not necessary. As you bake more, these items will become essential to make your baking life easier. The will also result in a more consistent result in your cakes and sweets.
